Fighting Signs Of Aging With Plastic Surgery

If you are fighting the war on aging you are not alone

. Every year women and men alike spend a great deal of money on creams and lotions to try to defy aging. Some appear to naturally age gracefully, but others are not so lucky. Once you are fed up with diets that promise glowing skin and creams and lotions that promise less wrinkles you may be left wondering what you can do. The world of plastic surgery may hold the key. There are both surgical and non-surgical methods that you can consider.

A non-surgical option is Botox. Botox or other injectables have a similar purpose, but they aren't exactly the same thing. Botox is known for injecting a chemical that relaxes the muscles that cause frown lines and wrinkles. These injections are good for the forehead, around the eyes and the wrinkles around the mouth. A patient should expect the results to last four to six months.

Other injectables like Restylane and Juvederm are used to plump up lips, redefine your features and fill in wrinkles and lines. Its versatile purpose makes these products ideal to those seeking fuller lips. This product works differently than Botox as it is actually filling in lines with an injectable gel. This procedure would need to be repeated every four to six months depending on the area of the face treated.

A surgical option is of course a facelift. There are many smaller surgeries that can be done to target specific areas of the face as well as just a general facelift. Not everyone is a candidate for plastic surgery. Though you may want more permanent results you must be an ideal candidate. A heavy smoker is not a good candidate and patients who smoke will be asked to quit for as much as two months prior to surgery. Smoking can delay healing. To be a good candidate, patients must have good skin elasticity and bone structure. You will want to discuss risks and benefits with your surgeon. The only way to know for sure if you are a good candidate is to meet with a surgeon.

Fighting aging is nothing new. When you are done with creams and lotions, plastic surgery may be an option for you. You may not be a candidate for surgical options, but there are many non-surgical options that may help you get the benefits you were searching for. Consider how far cosmetic procedures have come and let us be thankful that we live in a time where we can safely change our appearance for the better.
