For some, after you get past the initial jitters and the 'I Dos,' you have the honeymoon portion of the marriage to look forward to, which is exciting as most couples opt to take their honeymoons in places that they would probably never had dreamed possible. If you are lucky enough to have someone else paying for your honeymoon (I.e. a parent, etc.), then it is even more enjoyable because it means less planning on your part. However, if you are like most couples, and you are getting ready to plan out your special day yourself, it can seem overwhelming at times. That said, where do you even begin?
It simply means that you have to backtrack and find something else that is more in line with what you can actually afford to spend. Keep in mind also that you don't want to start off the beginning of your life together with someone else by being broke! If everything seem a bit overwhelming and you are having trouble keeping track of all that is going on, it doesn't hurt to enlist the help of a travel agent who will gingerly help you walk through the process of finding, booking and enjoying your honeymoon destination.
When planning your first real trip-whether it is a honeymoon, mini vacation or something else that is marginally related, you will find that there are tons of options. Sure, you can go to a library and take out a bunch of books on the subject of travel, and more specifically- on the area that you are interested in traveling. However, most of us don't allow ourselves enough time to do this and often wind up finding out the hard way that we are in over our heads because we only have a few weeks to find and book something. Again, a travel agent may be helpful here. For example, if you are interested in having your honeymoon in the Caribbean but you don't know the first thing about the Caribbean, you may not realize how many choices you have available to you in terms of places to stay such as: Barbados, Antigua, Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba and Jamaica, etc. to name a few.
Most couples who get married do so at least a year out from the date of the actual engagement, and part of this is so that they will have plenty of time to plan out their honeymoon destination. Based on how traditional your background is, you do not necessarily have to pressure yourself into finding a honeymoon that coincides with the day after your wedding. In fact, many young couples nowadays are pushing back their honeymoons until a few weeks to a few months after their initial wedding day to give them a chance to settle into their new home together and write out all of their 'thank you' cards.
