As we move forward into the world of Point of View Video

, there are bound to be some incredibly useful new features, bumping up user and viewer experience with a new level of interaction, documentation and reality. Over the last few months, we have seen an influx on the market of specialty, POV camera equipment focusing their vision on rugged sports, enabling people to record information like never before to increase training, stamina and performance. So, what new feature are we talking about? Why, GPS of course!

Stepping up the game is the brand new gobandit GPS HD Camera, offering a fresh new take on the way we capture video as well as the way we interact with it and our audience. The inclusion of GPS enables the user to capture their speed, top speed, location and altitude - which is a milestone feature, because now, riders, boarders and so on are able to record this bounty of information, pinpointing those trails which they may never find again. This is going to be an amazing way of expanding the back country experience, but hey... at the same time... this lets you prove your claims to your buddies, while making them incredibly jealous about what you just accomplished!

The gobandit follows the recent release of the ContourGPS camera, and offers many of the same desirable features... as does the all new Oregon Scientific ATC9K, which has also recently been released. So what does the gobandit have in common with these other contenders? HD video for one.

The gobandit films at a maximum of 720p, which produces stunning, clear HD quality. It cannot record at 1080p however, but that's ok. 1080p is great, but most people tend to record in 720 anyway on account of file size and processing time... you still get gorgeous footage, but it is more manageable. Here's the thing, you probably can't even tell the difference anyway. Trust me! The gobandit can also be set to record in SD mode at 480p. Both modes sported by the gobandit shoot at 30fps, while capturing footage through a 135 degree lens. This gives you a wide enough field of view to capture more of the scene you want, without over distorting like some fish eye lenses tend to do.

Imagine being out riding for an afternoon, and finding some amazing natural jumps, new trails, rugged, earthy terrain, the likes of which you have never seen before... well, a camera is great, but GPS means, you know just where you are! Never let these gems slip away again and pinpoint exactly where you have been as you ride. How awesome is this, building community, while sharing your knowledge, first hand, through video. But with this kind of shooting, there are some other concerns, like water resistance, durability and ease of use... if you ride often you know how it is... gloved hands make for difficult fine tuning... and forget about fiddling with tiny camera record buttons. The gobandit has taken care of all of that with a rugged, water resistant design, incorporating a nice wide record button, ensuring easy operation. Life presents situations that you have to be ready for - rain or shine, you want to be able to engage the camera without having to stop and remove a glove... now you can do just that! Many models on the market today are taking these points into consideration, so with the releases of the gobandit GPS, the ContourGPS and the ATC9K, we are witnessing a big change in the way manufacturers build these killer little devices.

I find it amazing that so much amazing footage is caught with the head these days... Point of View Video is a great way to share your adventures, giving people a chance to sit in the action seat without leaving their homes. An important feature to make this experience take off properly is the proper angle on the head. The gobandit sticks right to your helmet, and is fully adjustable to any angle, the trick is... you have to remember how your camera's pointing, otherwise... you might just start recording the sky, or the ground in front of you... but at least with GPS, you're going to know where you were either way!

With interest skyrocketing in the world of extreme, back country sports its nice to see the market grow and incorporate the features that really add a new, exciting element to the dare devil addiction. Another updated feature becoming more and more standard in modern cameras is the power source... the gobandit, like other GPS models on the market draws its fuel from a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery... so now you can waste less and help take care of that environment you love to play within.

Get outside, and ride your heart out, shred some fresh powder and do what you love to do, while capturing your adrenaline rushes in HD format, perfectly synced with your altitude, speed and location... Secure bragging rights with the proof of GPS, then share your interactive videos with embedded skins, displaying your stats right on screen as your viewers oooo and awww.

The gobandit GPS does sell at a premium price of $389, but with so much blood, sweat and tears put into the development of it... you have to admire the dedication of its creators... and we are stoked to see how this particular camera performs along side the ContourGPS model, as well as the ATC9K.
