When a new colossal arrives in the movie theatres it often favours the creation of a videogame, and at the same time from a videogame become cult often comes a film, hoping that it will become a colossal. The idea is that of taking advantage of the success of the first to grant expectation and popularity to the second: there is a multitude of examples, from the world renowned series of Indiana Jones, a cult at the cinema that has subsequently inspired more than one videogame, to the various Tomb Rider, videogames that gave inspiration to a film and its sequel.

There's another series of videogames that invaded at first the arcade games and then the online games, to finally conquer the big screen: Mortal Kombat. Probably, though, the most famous videogame of all keeps staying Super Mario Bros., that in 1993 was produced and distributed in the cinemas and is recognized as the first film adaptation of a videogame. The film's protagonists are Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo, who dress the parts of the most famous hydraulics brothers in the world; criticized and at the same time loved, even just for the fact of being dedicated to one of the dearest videogames for all the video-players in the world, the film anyway defends its place in history for being the first that has ever been inspired by a videogame.

The motorcycles and cars games lovers can count on the transformation into a videogame of the successful Pixar cartoon Cars: it's a driving simulation, of course, in which the player gets to dress the part of Lightning McQueen to help the funny inhabitants of the outlying village of Radiators Springs, also participating in some races.

Rocky Balboa's fans, instead, can play with the famous boxer in the videogame that the film inspired: you can play the matches and follow the history of the movie in the film mode, or you can get trained or choose the exhibition mode in order to choose boxers and arenas. Anyone who grew up playing with the Prince of Persia, instead, will find their hero in the movie theatres starting from May 2010: the film was produced by Disney Pictures and distributed in 2010. Even though the scenes were initially written by the same creator of the game, afterwards they decided to add some new elements and to eliminate some others of the videogame, in order to create a new history.

Those who saw the Pirates of the Caribbean can immerge in the plot of the film series with the related videogames, that had a good success also thanks to graphics and because they are well playable. Since when this brotherhood between cinema and videogames was born, the adventure films often transform into videogames, and vice versa: the fame of the first grants, if not success, at least some curiosity for the second.
