In Final Fantasy XIV online, players can team up with their friends

. You can make up a party consisting of 6 to 8 members. Enemies will not be found in just an area, they will be scattered all around. FFXIV uses skill-based progression. It allows the gamers to create avatars for the character races.

FFXIV online balances both group and solo play. Players can select their favorite avatars such as Thaumaturge or Gladiator by holding different crafting tools and weapons. The roles are divided into four disciplines known as the Disciples of Hand, Disciples of Land, Disciples of Magic and Disciples of War.

The crafting system is included in the armory system and the player's appearance changes base on the crafts they use. For instance, when you hold onto a Blacksmith hammer, you will become a Blacksmith. This applies to the harvesting tools as well.

FFXIV consists of five playable races. They are the Hyur, Elezen, Lalafell, Roegadyn and Miqo'te. The city states are Gridania, Limsa Lominsa and Ul'dah.

The Hyurs are separated into Highlanders and Midlanders. The Midlanders are the most cultured people and they highly emphasize on their education. The Highlanders are bulkier and physically larger. Both sexes are available in the Midlander playable characters whereas only male characters are available in the Highlander race.

The Elezens are elf-like characters. They are divided into Duskwight and the Wildwood Elezen. The Duskwights stay in caverns and caves with a high sense of hearing. The Wildwoods stay in forest with a very keen sense of sight.

The Lalafells are physically diminutive humanoids from the southern regions. They have high intelligence and agility. The Lalafells are separated into Dunesfols and plainsfolk.

The Roegadyns are muscular and physically huge from northern regions. They are separated into hellsguard and sea wolves.

The Miqo'tes are cat-like humanoids, who are separated into Seekers of the Sun and Keepers of the Moon.
