Island hop. It is by far the easiest thing you can do to feel like you are entering another world. You can go from the touristy and upscale areas to the remote and beautiful. The roads around the islands are covered in vegetation so even though people may be around, you will still feel peace and solace.

Rent a car! Explore away. It is convenient and very simple to do. Don't worry about getting lost as there are not many roads that are out of the way. If you "get off the beaten path" it will be to see amazing landscapes.
