How To Pay For Your Plastic Surgery

How To Pay For Your Plastic Surgery

One of the most common questions asked about plastic surgery is "Will my insurance take care of it? Another common question is Are there alternate ways of paying besides handing over the money up front? Let's attempt to answer these questions here.

Obviously, before committing to a cosmetic surgery procedure, you will want to do a little bit of research first. Your findings will give you a very good idea of the approximate costs. Even doing some simple online searches, you can easily find a average rates for the most common procedures. Internet based data will vary widely, but at least it gives you a ball park figure. The only real way to know is to call different office directly. Ask about their rates either on the phone or in person.

Next, you should examine your health insurance plan. What coverage are you provided with? More often than not, cosmetic surgery is not usually covered by common health insurance plans. You should still look because there can be exceptions. For example, some health insurance providers have been known to cover the cost of breast reduction surgery or other procedures that might have a bearing on immediate or long term health.

If your insurance plan does not give you any coverage, you will need to provide for the costs all on your own. Were not financial planners, but a good approach is to simply save the money for your surgery, or use cash you already have. Saving the money may take a few short months if you can set aside a little bit of money each week or each month.

An alternative to saving is to ask about paying through installments. Many office will take payment plans, but it will be similar to getting a loan for a car, or a credit card. You will need to go through a credit application process. Just remember, it is important to not choose a plastic surgeon based only on their ability to offer a payment plan.

You might also look at available credit lines you currently have, like a 2nd mortgage line, or even a high balance credit card. Be prudent, and make sure you are not over extending yourself financially.

Planning for cosmetic surgery involves both looking for the best procedure for your goals, the best surgeon to perform the procedure, and a smart way to finance it all.
