Mr. Mitesh Malhotra Managing Director of Saviour Education Abroad, (A unit of Saviour Core Consultant Pvt. Ltd) said he believed the new "genuine temporary entrant'' test for student visas would work in favour of Indian students.

"The Chinese students who traditionally opt for pathway options with the intention to first study English and then any other program will find it difficult to get visa clearances,'' he said.

"On the other hand, Indian students (often with better English) enrol in postgraduate or undergraduate programs with a defined career path or objective.''

"Indian students are very outcome-driven by nature so to be able to work in Australia after studying in Australia is a big plus.

"They may not be interested in PR but to gain international experience helps them position (themselves).''
