It may be true that making money on MySpace is not as easy as it once was. At one time, it used to be very easy to make money on the site. What a marketer had to do was creating a profile, add lots of friends using automated programs, and then simply send bulletins out to hundreds and hundreds of people, sometimes thousands of people.

That started a series of complains about the ridiculous amount of spam messages that people were getting from those marketers, from dozens of daily spam offerings for everything fromhealth products, to ringtones to paydays loans, and everything in between.

You can imagine the number of complains from these people to MySpace, and so to protect the site's reputation, they got a lot stricter about enforcing their rules. One of the first things they did was to put a limit on the number of friends they could add daily. This step alone, seriously affected those marketers who were adding hundreds or even thousands of people a day to their lists with those automated programs.

After that, they also started cracking down on the number of bulletins users could send, banning some users who abused the privilege. Many users could find themselves banned within hours of sending out their first bulletin, which caused many marketers to simply give up trying to make money on MySpace.

Only smart marketers began to find out that you could still use MySpace to make a great deal of money, if you used it properly. The days of sending out bulletin spam, spamming affiliate links on guestbooks, and spamming MySpace forums, had gone forever. You had to change your way of marketing, and start to promote your offerings tactfully on MySpace for these to be accepted.

And you begin this process by offering MySpace users, real value in return for being your friend. If they are on your list for marketing purposes, make sure you provide them with lots of incentives to get them to stay on your list.

Once you've make friends with people, you can direct them to your own websites outside of MySpace, and ask them to join your forum, sign up to your newsletter, or visit your blog. Once you get your friends to start networking with you outside MySpace, you are free to market to them however you choose, without My Space's interference.

MySpace could still ban you if they suspect you doing any kind of marketing in their website; but even if someone reports you from trying to sell them something, after they joined your email list from your own private website, you have nothing to fear from MySpace. However, keep this in mind and refrain from doing any marketing at all from MySpace's website.

So, be sure to always keep in mind MySpace's terms of service, and remember they do prohibit blatant marketing, but the financial rewards are still there if you follow to the letter their conditions of service. Do this diligently and your profits from your online marketing will escalate to new levels.
