Sandie Tillotson Nuskin co-founder is a great example of this. She has been a public school teacher, mother, grandmother, entrepreneur, business owner and philanthropist. In 2001, Feminine Fortunes magazine named her one of only 50 "Women of the New Millennium."

The word "charitable" can be added to the list of adjectives describing Sandie Tillotson. She is not just a business woman, but is also the founder and trustee of the non-profit Nu-Skin Force for Good Foundation. Force for Good's mission statement is to "Improve the lives of children by offering hope for a life free from disease, illiteracy and poverty."

Force for Good partnered with Seacology, a non-profit foundation dedicated to preserving both the culture of indigenous people and the endangered species that inhabit the world's islands. The foundation works to benefit island people in exchange for their help in nature preservation. For example, the foundation built a school in Samoa. In exchange for the school, the village members will plant and protect a 30,000 acre forest reserve. In addition to her financial support to charitable organizations, Tillotson is known to give her time and energy to them as well.

In some circles, Christina Aguilera is as well-known for her charitable activities as her music. She frequently makes large donations to the "Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburg" as well as spending time there as a volunteer. The shelter provides legal and medical help to battered women and men.

Aguilera is identified as a contributor to 18 different charities and over 20 others credit her with having given them her support. She has donated money and time to environmental and disaster relief organizations. The entire profits from a CD Aguilera recorded went to various charities including the Red Cross and Amnesty International.

Aguilera credits the birth of her son with inspiring her to become involved in charity work. He made her realize that no child should ever be hungry. She helped raise 12 million dollars for the UN World Food Program and continues to be involved.

Oprah Winfrey must be included in any discussion of charitable women. She has been called "One of the greatest philanthropists of the 21st century." She has given hundreds of millions of dollars to various charities and also volunteers her time. She is one of the largest contributors to the organization "Free the Children" and is dedicated to building schools for children in developing countries.

Winfrey has established several of her own foundations, including the Angel Network and the Oprah Winfrey Foundation. Winfrey pays all operating expenses for the Angel Network so 100 percent of any money donated to the Network goes directly to the work. The Angel Network has given money to Habitat for Humanity and Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

The Oprah Winfrey Foundation is completely funded by Winfrey and does not accept outside donations. It provides grants to individuals or organizations for the advancement of learning and providing leadership skills. It is said that Winfrey's will is structured so as to leave one billion to charity upon her death.
