If a company develops a bad reputation with its customers, it's easy to find that information in the Registrar. However, if the individual in charge starts another company, that company is going to have a blank slate in terms of customer feedback. So you should avoid hiring anyone with a history of working with failed or untrusted companies.

Check with the Manufacture

Another way to find a reputable HVAC contractor is to check with your system's manufacturer. Manufacturers often recommend certain contractors to service their products.
