To have a lean and mean look is to have very little body fat. This look is characterized by the term, lean and mean. The best way to get this so you can have a confidence boost is to train well and eat properly.

More but Smaller Meals

Don't have three big meals in a day if you want lean muscle. This is an American tradition that definitely is not best for properly nourishing your body. Have six or seven smaller meals instead of three big ones and it will be more effective and biggest change. This maintains your metabolism up, which helps to pump up through the day. Make sure each meal has lots of good carbohydrates and lots of protein.

Drink Lots of Liquids

Many people aren't aware that muscles are mainly composed of water. Water has to be your first source of hydration. you'll want to drink eight to ten cups a day. No other drink will be as effective.

Practice Compound Exercises

Two types of exercises exist for getting lean muscle: isolation and compound. Isolation exercises simply work one muscle group at a time while compound exercises work many at a time. At times, compound exercises will work the whole body out at once. Compound exercises maximize results and ensure your muscle groups are all worked out evenly. Excellent compound exercises include bench presses, shoulder presses, bent-over rows, dead lifts, and chin-ups. You should aim for doing about eight to twelve reps in a set and three or four sets. Then, you should rest for two days.

Aerobics

Cardio exercises will help make your heart stronger and reduce fat in your body. If you're somewhat in shape, then it'll be sufficient to perform half an hour near the end of the workout. If you think you have a bit more fat in your body, then an hour to an hour and a half will suffice.

Rest

Remember to rest sufficiently every night. Its just as important to rest as it is to eat well and exercise regularly. Sleeping lets your muscles repair from the rigors of the exercise regimen. Without rest, your muscles wont grow. Aim for a minimum of eight hours of sleep per night and occasional naps when possible. Your body will surely thank you.
