Finding A Quality E-Liquid
It wasn't that long ago, that you could find about any kind of product, that was American made. We took great pride in this fact. However, sadly, those days seem to gone. Now days, instead of seeing the slogan, "Made in America", we see "Made in China". This is particularly true of the electronic cigarette. The vast majority of e-cigs on the market today are "Made in China", or some other remote spot on the planet wherever there might be a cheap labor force. Now you may have found a nicotine delivery system (technical term for electronic cigarette), that you like, but I know that many are still seeking for a quality e-liquid. We scour the web looking for an e-juice that is a quality made product, great flavor, and reasonably priced. Usually though, most of the ones we come upon are, you guessed it, "Made in China".
I thought, as some of you have thought, there has to be an e-liquid that is made in America. So I began a search for only American made e-juices for my e-cig, if such existed. Well, I was quite pleased to find that there were several American companies, who have taken it upon themselves, to offer e-cig users a high quality, great tasting line of e-juice that is made under the strictest quality conditions.
Now some may asked, "What is the big problem with Chinese e-liquid?". Well, the problems are many. First of all, we don't know what ingredients they are using in their concoctions, because you never see an ingredients list. What ingredients they do use, we don't know the quality of those ingredients and in what conditions they are mixed. Are they mixed in a sterile lab or in somebody's washtub? We don't know and we are being asked to place these unknown substances into our bodies, and smile while doing it. Are they using Polyethylene glycol (PEG), or Propylene glycol (PG)? There is a huge difference in the two. Polyethylene glycol is an ingredient they use in anti-freeze, while Propylene glycol has been deemed safe for humans by the FDA. Not that the FDA seal of approval should give you the warm fuzzies because they also tell us that the cancer-causing sweetener, Aspartame is safe.
Concerning PG, WIKI notes, "Inhalation of the propylene glycol vapors appears to present no significant hazard in ordinary applications. However, limited human experience indicates that inhalation of propylene glycol mists could be irritating to some individuals." So some people may be sensitive to PG, and should avoid exposure to it.
There are American makers of e-liquid that use only a PG formula, and some that offer a PG-free formula for those who are PG sensitive. Of course, all these formulas contain nicotine (except for the 0-nicotine mix), which is highly addictive, and should be kept safely away from children and pets. If you don't smoke, don't start, because it isn't cool. If you are smoker, and looking for an alternative to smoking regular cigarettes, which deliver almost 5,000 chemicals and over 45 known carcinogens, then you might consider using an electronic cigarette instead. If you do, I would encourage you to find an American company that makes a quality e-juice.
