Finding Fab Fashion In The Flea Market

Have you ever tried buying used clothes? Theres definitely a stigma in buying used

clothes as I have heard many stories about people getting bad body odor from the previous owner of the shirt or the pair of shoes they bought at the thrift store. You never know who owned that vintage piece of clothing or where theyve been before. While that may be true, there are many advantages in purchasing used clothes online. For one, these clothes are dirt cheap! They are a steal if you compare it to the prices from the haute couture shop at the mall.

I remember when a friend bought an old pair of recycled tennis shoes which if I remember correctly; cost him less than 10 dollars at the flea market. It was one of those old vintage Nike shoes that recently came back in fashion. They werent too bad, people kept asking him where he got them and he would tell them he got it from eBay and then they would rave at how cool they were. Not bad indeed for less than 10 dollars.

The first time I tried to buy used clothing online, I was amazed at the stuff some people would throw away. There were vintage leather jackets, awesome boots and shoes, even crazy hats that would be great for a party. I cant believe that they would throw that stuff away. I bought a really cool pair of beatnik boots and an awesome ten gallon cowboy hat for less than 30 dollars for the lot that I still use from time to time in parties or when I go out camping with my buddies.

Even if they are secondhand, used clothes, they still can be fabulous if mixed and matched with your other stuff. For example, those boots I got, I would mix them up with my slim jeans and a beret and Id look like a total badass neo-punk, in a cool kind of way. They were perfect for a night out in the city if I do say so myself.

You have to remember when buying used clothes that you should generally avoid any used clothes that have direct contact to the skin, like t-shirts or jeans. Caps and hats should be alright as they are usually not worn all the time. One more thing, wear socks when using that old pair of shoes. Theres a strong chance that they may have fungus inside as it doesnt get exposed to light and have poor air circulation. All in all, used clothing can save you a lot of money in the long run if you know what to look for and what to avoid. These secondhand clothes online might be one mans trash but it certainly became another mans treasure.
