Finding Real Treadmill Coupons And Elliptical Coupons Can Be Frustrating, But It Can Pay Off!
Have you been looking for a treadmill, elliptical
, exercise bike, or other fitness equipment online, but don't want to pay full price? (hey, who does, right?) I've been in your shoes for a while now, and I've finally found some coupons that work -- along with a huge pile of coupons that don't.
Most of the coupon codes, discount codes, or promo codes you come across online fit into one of two categories:
1) the short little codes you copy-paste into a form field at checkout (i.e. - 'PROFORM5'), or
2) an affiliate link or banner that you click which takes you to the site where you buy a product and supposedly get a discount.
The main problem with the copy-paste codes is that 9 times out of ten, they've been outdated for several months and everyone seems to be displaying the same ones.
The beef I have with the affiliate links/banners is that in most cases, they promise you some special discount by clicking on them, but in reality, they don't give you any discount or sale price that you couldn't have gotten if you went directly to the site in the first place. Now don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against affiliate marketing or those who do it. In fact I support the practice; it's an excellent marketing tool.
What gets under my skin about it is that when I'm looking for coupons, what I'm really looking for is a way to keep my wallet as full as possible, and that means: I want a REAL coupon -- not something that's masquerading as a coupon just so you can dupe me into thinking I'm getting a special deal so that you can get a commission. There's an element of deception there when you call a coupon a coupon and it's really just a banner ad.
Ok, I'm off my soapbox now. It's time to get to the heart of the matter. I'm writing this article to share with you my experiences in looking for a treadmill coupon that is REALLY, truly a coupon. Let's face it, times are tough, and treadmills are expensive -- even when they are on sale.
After searching endlessly, reading reviews, comparisons, and anything else I could find, I narrowed my search to the Icon Fitness brands (which, if you're interested, are: NordicTrack, ProForm, HealthRider, Gold's Gym, FreeMotion, and probably some others I'm not aware of). Why? Because they have a decent reputation, and they don't cost a fortune some some of the other brands out there.
I eventually narrowed my search from there to the ProForm brand, which I feel more closely suits my needs. From there, I searched google on the phrase 'proform coupons'. Makes sense, right? I then began systematically going down the search results one by one, trying every promo code and every supposed "coupon," only to be disappointed time and time again. After several weeks of this, I finally stumbled upon a link to a link to a link that finally led me to a site called proform-coupons.com. Talk about a painful search! Boy was I glad it was over.
What I found on proform-coupons.com were a list of coupon links that, when clicked, took me to proform.com. They claim their coupons give a discount even off the sale price, which, to me, is what a coupon is really all about (call me old fashioned). After exploring the site thoroughly, and testing to make sure their coupons actually worked (and they DO work as claimed), I explored their other sites as well, some of which are nordictrackcoupons.com, goldsgymcoupons.com (no coupons on this one that I could see), and healthridercoupons.com. All of those sites had coupons that worked as well.
I don't know what to think of these guys, to be honest. After exploring their network of sites, it dawned on me that the only products they have coupons for -- that actually work like a coupon should -- were all Icon brands. That's perfect for me, because that's exactly what I was looking for. But sad news for anyone looking for a Smooth, Yowza, or any other brand.
If you're looking for a coupon on one of the non-ICON brands, you've got your work cut out for you, and I don't envy you. All I can do is wish you luck. If you happen to be looking for an ICON brand treadmill or elliptical, I've posted the most helpful links in my Resource Box. Good luck in your search!
