An option is to visit your local gas station and grab the first bunch you see, but your mother will probably not like the flowers. So instead you should take your time and look around for a better option. If you mother lives locally, the best option is to visit a florist.

If you are a man it can seems like a scary thing, but they will give you some advices and it is always best to see the flowers, before you are buying them. A local delivery is normally also very reliable, so it is the best option next to deliver them in person.

If you cannot buy them locally, there are two options: telephone or internet. If this is the option, you have to have a more clear idea of what you are looking for and how much they must cost. And do look for a company that offers some kind of guarantee, if something goes wrong.

On the net you can find hundreds of florist on any search engine all offering very similar services so look at the small print and remember that the biggest companies are not always the best. Sometimes you are better off looking for a smaller company situated locally to your mother's address.

Finally you must be sure that there is someone home to receive the flowers. If you mother is not there, when they are delivered, you may lose the recompense to compensation for late delivery. So it might be a idea to ask one of the neighbors if they can receive the delivery, so the surprise isn't spoiled.
