Finding the Perfect Holiday Accommodation in Somerset Bath UK by:Sunny Ahaluwalia

The region of Somerset and Bath is a cultural feast for anyone visiting the area

. It is blessed with a mix of major towns and cities, beautiful British countryside and historic landscapes making it the perfect holiday destination for the family.

Somerset and Bath have a steep history with the city of Bristol being the centre of the British maritime history, the Roman spa resort of Bath as well as Taunton, Glastonbury, Cheddar and Wells. All of these towns and cities have a wide variety of different historical attractions that you can visit. Somerset also has Exmore National Park and is blessed with some beautiful coastline beaches for you to explore. The seaside resorts of Burnham-on-Sea, Mine head and Weston-super-Mare offer the traditional British holiday by the sea with amusement arcades, donkey rides and strolls down the pier.

There is a wide variety of accommodation on offer in Somerset and Avon. There are plenty of places to stay in Bristol and the other towns and cities with the usual types of hotels, apartments and B&BS available. If you would prefer a more rural location then there are plenty of accommodations available. If you enjoy outdoor pursuits then you will be able to find a number of campsites and caravan parks in rural Somerset. From here you will be able to travel to sights like Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar Gorge and Wells Cathedral.

As for beach holidays, Somerset will never truly compete with Devon or Cornwall simply because it doesn't have as much coast, and the coast it does have is just on the Bristol Channel. Still, if you want to spend most of your holiday inland and are only interested in a day at the beach, or perhaps are fine without seeing the sea at all, then the coastline it does have will cater to your needs perfectly. There are also much more built up areas of coastline with full, traditional piers.

As far as cities go, Somerset has Devon and Cornwall beaten hands down. Bristol and Bath have no equal in Devon and Cornwall, if you're interested in spending time in a real city, whether it's for shopping, to take in a show or for accommodation; Bristol is your best bet, which is another mark in Somerset's favor.

If you prefer some where to stay that feels more like home then you will be more than satisfied with the wide variety of luxury holiday cottages in Somerset and Avon. A self catering cottage is a perfect solution for large groups and families. You will be able to use the cottage as a base for visiting the different attractions and with full self catering facilities you will be able to choose where and when you eat. Many holiday cottages in Somerset come with beautiful gardens to play in as well as other facilities such as hot tubs or above ground swimming pools. You can even bring your dog along with many pet friendly cottages available.
