Your search can begin with the many large real estate listings such as Realtor.com or Zillow, continue to specific realtors' sites, and then add in such special considerations as the HUD listings for your desired state and city.

You can use sites such as Zillow to compare asking prices and actual sales prices in your neighborhood and can use a range of tools to not only take house tours online, but also use mapping sites to actually take a photo-walk of your potential neighborhood. You can check for nearby schools, stores and churches, look up crime rates, and check on local activities.

The old tools are still sound. Just remember, your current research power is vast and can make buying a house simpler and far more rewarding.
