Finishing Touches Complete A Home

About six years ago my family and I were relocated and built a home that we were all comfortable fitting into

. Because we have five children we wanted to house that was big enough to accommodate each of the children's needs while they were small and still work with us as everyone reached the teen years. Because of certain budget constraints we delayed having a few of the features and upgrades that we wanted in the dwelling and were able to build a place that had four bedrooms upstairs and an unfinished basement where we could add on later.

While we did upgrade the appliances, countertops, and flooring we held off on a few of the extras and planned to swap out the sliding glass door from the kitchen to the patio for a more elegant set of French doors. San Diego, where we live is filled with Mediterranean styled Spanish tile roofed houses and we thought that the addition of French doors would add a more European charm to the palm trees and sunshine of the city. While we had already opted for the energy efficiency of double paned glass, we also considered adding the lattice style finish of individually paned windows to match the upgrade we planned for replacing the sliding door in the kitchen.

Having a choice of materials to use in the replacement windows, San Diego residents like ourselves are able to matchup the style of the windows that they prefer, and have the convenience of the low E rated energy efficient products that provide savings on the utilities, without compromising on quality or the exterior decor of their home. The plan was that after a couple of years in the house we were able to take the equity that we had accumulated and be able to finish the basement and make the changes to the exterior of the premises that we had wanted, but were restricted on, at the time the dwelling was built.

By working with a contractor that is also the manufacturer of vinyl windows, San Diego homeowners, like us are able to determine the best price for replacing the current windows and also having the company replace the patio entrance sliding door with the French doors that we had originally wanted. With an awning that extends out over the patio the addition of the windows adds the attractive accent that we have been looking for and provides a perfect setting for hosting a backyard barbeque with convenient access to the kitchen and family room. By waiting and working with the manufacturer directly we have been able to save money on the upgrade and finish our home they way that we always wanted it to be.
