Fire safety for children is a very important yet often neglected topic

. This is because, fire accidents seems uncommon or unlikely to happen. However, according to the National Fire Protection Association, house fires are the leading cause of death for children under the age of 5.

In fact, a third of the numbers were caused by the children themselves... who.. unknowingly, set the fire.. either out of curiosity or accident.

Think about this, children growing up are naturally curious and wants to experience things on their own. They are hungry for knowledge and one of th habits all children possess, is to do the things that the adults are doing.

Thus, if your kids had seen you light a lighter, they would want to try to use a lighter like you did. Thus, unknown to them.. the dangers that lurks behind the fire... which can hurt or injure them.. and in the worst case scenario, burned the whole house down.

So, it is important that as parents, we start educating children about fire safety before things gets out of hand.

Here are some fire safety tips you should educate your kids about:

Educate your child that fire is dangerous and can kill

Fires at home are only used for cooking and nothing else

They should never play with fire

Share with them some stories about house fire

In the event of house fire, what they should do to protect themselves.

Note that while educating your children about the dangers of fire is important, as an adult, you should also practice the safe use of lighters and match sticks... especially in front of children.

That is to say, you don't play with your lighters nor match sticks just for fun. In addition, these flammable items should be kept out of reach from the little ones.

Fire safety for children starts when they are young, so that they can cultivate a habit of not playing with fire, both for the sake of their lives, as well as the family property.
