Fire Up Your Downline With a Team Newsletter
When you put out a written document, you must remember that there are words to be said and words to be read, the two shall not be mixed. Now what does that mean? Well I was taught a long time ago by the Father of Public speaking Mr. Bill Gove, this lesson and it has served me well. You can learn more about Bill Gove and his legendary training now being conducted for sometime by Mr Steve Siebold, search for GoveSieblod.
Let me put it this way, if you are crafting your message and as you are typing it, you are thinking of all the things that you need to "tell" everyone, you may be creating a "right vs wrong" document. See there are many ways to do many things, and if your news letter is reading like the information in the letter is the only way to do something, it will turn folks off.
The key in a newsletter is to be the messenger and not the message. Wait Sean, I want to get the info out to my team, I am the message, I have to be the message if I want to get the info out right? The answer is no, if you're the message, then you will always have to be the message, and you limit your success.
The key to a great newsletter is to share you message in story form, and the form should be in the examples of those on your team or in your company. This will allow you to be the messenger and not the message. You can explain the facts that you are wanting to share via examples. The better that you become at this, the better you will be able to turn this task over to someone on your team that loves to write newsletters.
Keep it simple by following these 3 steps:
1. Tell them what you are going to tell them
2. Tel them
3. Tell them what you told them.
If you do those 3 steps and you do it with stories, you will have a newsletter that can be used by your team as a recruiting tool, and it won't just sit in inbox's as an email no one reads.
