First-timer Hunting Tips

Hunting is a popular pastime for many states in the South and Midwest

. Its a challenging yet rewarding hobby that more and more people enjoy. Since wildlife over-population can have drastic effects if not properly monitored, regulated hunting is one way to control animal numbers. However, enticing it appears to be, going on a hunt can be daunting for a first-timer. Here are some general tips to help out novices going hunting for the first time.

Before anything else, you have to accomplish all the legal requirements and licenses required by law. Find out the regulations in your area as they vary from state to state. There are different seasons set aside for both types of game and types of weapons. Make sure to research thoroughly to prevent any hassles with the authorities.

Outfit yourself properly for your hunt. Dress in comfortable shoes that you wouldnt mind wearing for extended periods of time. Buy a camouflage suit if you prefer, though some people are content to wear normal dark clothing. Bring food that is portable and easy to eat. Making a mess is a surefire way to scare away the game. It would be a good idea to bring a spare bottle as your portable bathroom as well since some types of animals can smell it. Never venture out if you are not wearing the legally mandated orange vest.

A good nights sleep is very important for a successful hunt. You have to be well rested in order to function effectively in the wild. Check the state of your chosen weapon before heading out. Whether you are using a rifle, shotgun or bow, it is recommended that you use a chemical coating protective enough to let the weapon survive extended periods exposed to the weather.

Choose a finish thats non-reflective. Shiny weapons can act as mirrors and even a split second flash can scare away the prey. A properly applied product will render the coating protective as well as matte colored.

The most important thing to remember is to be patient! You can go for a whole day without seeing a single deer or fowl. Expect to spend hours doing nothing. After a couple of hours in the rain and mud, youd be thanking the stars that you shielded your rifle with a coating protective enough to resist corrosion.
