Fishing Floats - How To Use Them To Catch A Record Number Of Fish

Fishing floats also referred to as fishing bobbers

, have been around for years. Most experienced anglers understand that this device serves two prongs. Primarily anglers use this device to control the depth at which they fish their bait. The second use for this device is to alert anglers when a fish has taken the bait. The angler knows this has happen because the float will disappeared from site, do to the fact that the fish has taken it under water. This action lets the angler know that it is time to set the hook.

The narrow long bobbers are normally used in coarse fishing type situations. In still water type cases, most anglers are more apt to use a bobber that is a very thin tube made of plastic, this type of lure is called a waggler. This is an extremely effective line of fishing floats, and very popular world-wide.

When you are fishing in slow flowing water nothing beats using an avon fishing bobber. This type of float can be easily identified because of its oval shape, which is hollow on the top. The design of the avon float allows the angler to cast their bait much further.

One of my favorite types of float are the ones that allow you directional control. If you are on a river, and the current is not to fast, you can use this float to move your bait down stream, left or right. Having this type of control will allow you to reach areas of the river that you may not have otherwise been able to access. Most anglers will use this type of lure to fish under docks etc...

Writing this article takes me back to my childhood days of sitting on the bank of Lake Erie impatiently watching my fishing bobber. Every few minutes it appeared that it was going under, but no such luck. That feeling you get when a fish finally takes the bait, is one that you carry with you throughout your life. Even to this day I still have that feeling, and I have been able to share those experiences with my son. Although fishing floats may have changed over the years, that feeling that you get when your sitting there watching it has not.

Since my childhood floats are now manufactured in more color, shapes and sizes, some anglers have even developed different techniques for rigging up the floats. Underneath all the fancy new designs and techniques, the job of fishing floats still remain the same.

Fishing Floats - A Few Basic Tips

My goal is to help you achieve the best possible fishing experience possible. When you are choosing the float that is right for the job make sure you have the right size to support the bait that you are using. If your bobble sinks down into the water and only the top half is seen - you have the right weigh size ratio and will achieve the best results.

When adding a leader you want to ensure that it is light, this will avoid frightening the fish. You should use the type of bait that will sink once the bobber hits the water, it should dangle below the bobber. Another good tip is to check your hooks before leaving for your day of fishing, there is nothing like loosing that award winning fish because you have a weak or dull hook.
