The courtesy at the Estancia was unrivaled. Our hosts Marcos and Raquel Moncda operate a busy ranch with more than 1,600 head of cattle and sheep. The ranch hands are called Gauchos or cowboys and they arey up at sunrise everyday to have their work started out just before the sun becomes way too hot. Marcos was an explorer during his teenage days and rode horses over the Andes Mountains, that was just one of the many expeditions he revealed to us every night while dining.
Every single day started with a full morning meal just before venturing out to the river, which was merely a quick 15 minute drive through the ranch. Every afternoon we were welcomed by a wonderful lunch and short siesta afterwards.
We would go back to the river around 3 PM each day, with our Yo-Zuri fishing tackle, and fish till sunset, that was fabulous. A good bottle of Argentine wine and classic meal will follow each night.
After four days of this type of fishing, using lures, we went to our main destination: Concordia, Argentina. We boarded our aircraft that landed over a rice field in Corrientes and flew to Concordia, which is actually a small city on the Uruguay Argentine border. We fished underneath the soon to become world renowned dam around the Uruguay River. This area is called by the locals as La Zona (which means "The Zone"), because of the simple fact that it holds the largest concentration of Golden Dorado within the area.
When we finally landed we have been welcomed by Alfredo and Julieta Mdici, owners of the Los Tres Sietes (The Three Sevens Ranch), the place where we spent the next five days.
What we were going to experience defies words; nobody could have prepared us sufficiently for these fish. In literal terminology it absolutely was an epic, so as to whet your appetite on the first day of fishing I got 52 strikes and ended up with just ten fish. Granted we were alotted just one treble hook per fishing lure, and were making use of Crystal 3D Minnow Magnums fishing lures and Sashimi 3D Popping lures, as well as Yo-Zuris'sub-surface Sashimi Slider fishing lures, which were mauled harshly. Basically we were to realize, Dorado's attack the lure bait on the head, and so we ensured that we took off the tail and middle hooks. This served to optimize our hook up ratio, although decided not to eliminate missed strikes/hookups.
To Be Continued . . .
Yo-Zuri fishing lures and fishing tackle thanks you for viewing this fish tale. Be sure to come again.
