I wasn't surprised to hear that the person who created the amazing FitFlop range of toning footwear was a woman. A very clever and successful businesswoman called Marcia Kilgore to be exact. Marcia is the 42 year old Canadian who first created the Bliss Day-Spa experience, banishing the snooty idea of spa's being somehow exclusive and only for the mega-rich. She made them what they are today, affordable, welcoming, friendly places where you can go for the day with your friends or your mum or sister to relax and chill out and maybe get a facial or some beauty treatment and not feel that you've had to re-mortgage the house to do it.

Next Marcia created the well-known Soap & Glory beauty products with their humourously named showergels, foot creams and facial scrubs that smell amazing and don't cost a small fortune, once again, giving women the highest quality without costing the earth.

Her newest venture is the FitFlop range of toning footwear. An idea that came to her in a flash whilst she was sitting on a panel discussing cellulite problems for women and she suddenly thought about the idea of creating a flip flop that tones your legs and bottom while you walk and she instantly knew it would be a great idea. How right she was! After collaboration with its makers Dr David Cook & Darren James from South Bank University in London, in 2008 Marcia launched the original FitFlop flip flops, one style available in 3 different colours. That was the start of it and since Oprah Winfrey praised the shoes, hailing them as one of her favourite things, sales have just been growing ever since.

Nowadays there are many more styles available, there's still the original FitFlop flip flop and there's also the clogs, the boots, the shoes and the sandals. The range has grown and so has the respect and the popularity of these muscle-toning shoes. Women love them and they are special because they appeal to women of all ages so they don't exclude anyone because they're neither too fashion conscious nor do they ignore what is stylish. Glamorous grandmothers love them, young women with an eye on what's hot and also wanting to get that extra workout by wearing them, not to mention those 30 something's with busy lives and no extra time for the gym love them too because they take the effort out of a workout and they look great too. Some people are just born to make a difference and Marcia Kilgore is definitely one of these people!
