Fitness Flooring To Enhance Safety & Comfort
Nowadays most of the literate people have been remarkably aware about health and physical fitness
. Mainly urban people having some affordability prefer to attend gymnasium for physical exercise on a regular basis. People having affluence and sufficient space at home tends to set up their home gym for family members. Gym equipments are now freely available in all big towns and cities. But one has to decide about his fitness flooring before ordering for equipments. Many types of flooring can be set in a home gym. These may be conventional floor matting, rubber floor fixtures, hard wood flooring or even bamboo flooring. Selection of flooring may be determined as per space available, equipments to be installed, space for freehand exercise and yoga.
In a house, floor once fixed is not likely to be changed or altered every now and then. Mostly people decide one as per their regular exercise pattern. Rubber fitness flooring gives a softer cushion effect. Though very comfortable, these may not be that durable. Additionally, rubber flooring even slows down the movement on the floor. Necked concrete floor is not suggested for such gym exercise because it inflicts discomfort while performing on the floor.
Hard wood floors are liked by many people in home gym. But it becomes difficult to fix such flooring in modern type of houses. Ready made rubber mats are widely available in most of the gym stores. These are of different thickness, color and quality. Mostly these are available in rolls. One can purchase and cut it to size as per measurement of his concrete floor. This consumes very less time.
The other concept is space saving and multipurpose use of floor. When one needs to use gym equipments and also wants to go for freehand exercise or yoga but room space does not allow all at a time, he can introduce removable floor rolls made of synthetic vinyl or rubber that he can roll back and keep else where once free hand part is over.
When one has to go for weight lifting or heavy equipment exercise, best is to have thick rubber mats. But safety aspect is to be kept in mind before selection of fitness flooring. Cheap synthetic mattress may have potential to slip in a slight foot-fault. Also, placing heavy instruments on such mattress may not only damage the mat itself but the main floor below it.
Vinyl flooring may be slip resistant and less expensive; good looking too. But there is question of eco-friendliness. Polyvinyl chloride being the basic material, it is toxic and pollution possibility mat not be underestimated. To some rubber fitness flooring is a better option. These are easily washable. But then it has pronounced slipperiest properties. One has to think twice before recommending such flooring. Considering all above factors you may look at wood veneered- soft foam interlocking tiles. These are water proof, sound resistant and durable.
