It is so important to get fit and to stay fit. Inactivity so often leads to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and some cancers. Not only is exercise crucial to staying fit but it has been shown to enabling people who are active to live longer and feel so much better. It will also help to keep weight at a healthy level. So best get out there and take some exercise. Any exercise will be good. If you have become a couch potato then start walking. Dont choose some violent movement to start with. Work up to it. Walking will be a good beginning for anything you wish to undertake later. If you are fairly healthy (apart from lacking exercise) and aged between 18 and 65 then you should be able to walk for 20 30 minutes. Start by walking on alternate days. This will mean that you have a rest day between each exercise period plus you wont get the feeling that it is all too much. When you can cope fairly easily with alternate days of 30 minutes walking you can lengthen one or two of the walks you can push yourself to speed up gently on one or two of the walks you can begin to walk on some of the rest days Dont try to do all this at once. Add to your exercise little by little, here and there. You will find that an ordinary walk of 20 30 minutes will become quite easy. Once you find that your walks have become easier for you to cope with you may like to think about varying the type of exercise you undertake.
