One important question in summer is how to take care of our own skins so as to prevent them from getting sunburnt. Although people have paid more and more attention to sun protection, there are five main errors which are rather easily caused by people's carelessness or lack of enough knowledge.

The first error is the proper time to repair sunburn. Some people think they can deal with sunburn at the beginning of autumn, which is totally wrong. The sunburn must be repaired in time when it appears. A timely skin care can not only alleviate the swelling and excruciating reaction caused by burning sun, but also reduce the harm of ultraviolet rays. Thus, the extent of damage to skin can be minimized.

The second error is the opinion that ultraviolet A is quite weak in cloudy days. In fact, the clouds play little role in closing off ultraviolet A. Nearly all the ultraviolet A can break through the clouds. Only some ultraviolet rays can be stopped by those dark and thick rain-bearing clouds.

The third error is that the sunscreen cream with higher SPF (sun protection factor) can more effectively prevent sunburn. Actually, the sunscreen cream with high SPF can easily clog pores and cause excessive burdens to our skin. In addition, the higher SPF means more sun-screening agents have been used, which is rather irritating to the skin. Therefore, there is no need for us to make use of sunscreen creams with quite high SPF. The products of SPF 15 are totally suitable when we are at work inside.

The fourth error is thattartaric acid products can help us do away with sunburnt scurf of skin. It is the truth that tartaric acid products play an important role in removing sunburnt scurf from our skin. Another serious truth cannot be neglected that the new growing skin is much easier to be burnt by ultraviolet rays. Thus, the new growing skin exposed in the sun will be seriously damaged.

The fifth error is that the effect of sun protection will be better if thicker layers of sunscreen cream are worn. According to our common sense, this opinion may be a little reasonable. While in fact, more layers of sunscreen cream can cause many problems, such as putting more burdens on skin, clogging pores and causing blains. Generally speaking, the effect of sun protection can be obtained when the sunscreen cream is evenly worn on the surface of skin. The use of sunscreen cream can be increased on the places which are much easier to be sunburnt like noses, shoulders and arms.
