Five Essential Tools When Taking On A Home Decorating Project
The process that goes into a home decorating project is long
, and should be well thought out. In fact, it is very important that a clear picture is known before any work starts, if disappointment is to be avoided. Anyone who has gone about redecorating a living room, bedroom, kitchen or anywhere else in the home will willingly testify to the extent of the effort involved. It is not just the painting, plastering, furniture moving and reflooring that might have to take place. The work that takes place in the home itself is only a small part of it. New accessories, furniture and general fixtures and fittings that need to be purchased before starting the project also need to be considered. For example, which kitchen accessories, like sink mats, pot holders, towel rings and paper towel holders, will go best with the new interior design. Similarly, in the bathroom there can be a wide range of possible accessories, like towel rings, mechanical scales, and dedicated shower accessories, like shower rings, shower heads and shower curtains. Exactly what a home owner wants to bring into a room is up to them, but this is not the chief concern. This is because, to complete the actually improvement, the right tools need to be in hand. While power tools are particularly useful, they are not always necessary for decoration purposes, and for the vast majority of those undertaking such projects, the essential tools are the most common. Here are five such items that nobody should enter into a decorating project without. When Painting It is ridiculous to mention paint brushes, since they are the obvious way by which to apply paint to a wall. However, there are two other options that should be considered if speed and efficiency are preferred. Firstly, the roller and, secondly, the paint pad. The roller is well known to everyone, and comes complete with plastic tray. These are hugely beneficial when covering large flat areas in paint. However, even better is the paint pad, which also allows the decorator to cover large areas quickly. But it is more effective at distributing the paint than the roller. When Tiling They may be small, but they are very useful when trying to get the niggling corners right as tiles are being stuck to the wall. Wall tile spacers allow the amateur decorator to do a thoroughly professional job, ensuring the tiles are straight and evenly spaced. Also essential is a tile squeegee, to distribute the grouting more effectively. When Remodeling For DIY lovers with some experience, it is important to keep what air bound debris might be stirred up out of the rest of the home. After all, dust and plaster can fly into the air and make it hard to breathe. By putting up a dust sheet, however, this inconvenience can be avoided very effectively. Most dust sheets come in very large sizes, like 12ft x 12ft or in rolls as long as 50 metres, allowing rooms to be divided completely and keeping the air clean in the rest of the home. When Wallpapering A wallpaper paste brush is not really something that is overlooked by those planning to put up new wallpaper, but it is surprising how many will neglect to get their hands onto a paper hanging brush. This is a very important tool because it is designed to brush out any air pockets that might have developed under the paper. And lets face it; there is nothing worse than seeing an air pocket under wallpaper, even if it is minute. When Finishing Up It is not always necessary to throw all of the old
kitchen accessories away once the new ones have been introduced. The
shower accessories may be a little old and riddled with mildew, but they could be cleaned and saved too. The point is that the old can be saved for another day, in which case boxes and packing tape can be very useful. Masking, packing and duct tape are different in terms of strength and size, with packing tape the weakest and duct tape the strongest. However, all can come in very handy in practically every area of a
home decorating project, making them, perhaps, the most important of all to have.
