Five Gift Ideas To Make Your Party Host Smile
After the spooky and fun Halloween festivities are over
, Thanksgiving and Christmas preparations are most probably underway. Dont you just love receiving invitations to dinner get-togethers during this time of the year? I do. Most of the time, Id be on the planning and preparing side of the table, so its always nice to have a little change every so often.
I do anguish a little about picking the perfect present for the host/s, though, because sometimes you really just get stumped and have no clue on what to get them. Over the years, however, Ive figured out five types of host gifts that would surely make them happyand they dont always have to be very expensive too!
Food & Wine
Food and wine could possibly be the first things that come to mind when thinking of host gifts. And why not? Its inexpensive (you dont have to get fancy with the wine, there are wonderful budget wines out there, after all) and practical, and your host can share it with the rest of the party! If youre not sure on what kind of wine to get, youll never go wrong with a bottle of champagne or chardonnay. As for the food, Id suggest some kind of dessert that everyone can enjoy with coffee or tea.
Go Green
I received flowers once or twice from friends when I threw dinner get-togethers last year and I really loved them. Im the type who would appreciate these beauties, but not exactly the type who would buy them, so receiving a bouquet of lovely blooms was a delight. Perhaps you could try giving your host a nice arrangement of flowers in season, or if you dont think theyre into flowers, a potted plant will do. Potted herbs are also a great present for hosts who are into cooking with natural herbs and spices.
Trinkets for the Home
This would be a good idea if youre getting invited to a housewarming, and your host is only starting to fill their place with furniture and other accents. You could choose to get them some nice book ends or small figurines to decorate their shelves or desks, or perhaps a nice vase or a quirky picture frame for the bedroom. There are lots of fun and practical gifts in this area, so I dont think getting something nice for your host will be such a tedious task.
Kitchen Additions
Most dinner hosts are cooking enthusiasts (I know I am), and nothing excites us more than receiving something new for our kitchen. Anything from cute salt-and-pepper shakers, to lovely pot holders, to a new wire whisk is fair gamejust make sure your host will really find use for them or else theyll just clutter up the kitchen even more. Other gift ideas for the kitchen would be small candy dishes or mason jars. Theyre extremely useful, and a charming addition to any kitchen.
Hobbies
Does your host love to watch movies or listen to a certain kind of music? What about reading books? Knowing your hosts hobbies will be of help to you if you wanted to get them something personal as a host gift. Give them a DVD of their favorite movie, or a CD of their chosen artist. Or add to their growing book collection and get them a current bestselling book. Theyd love it, for sure.
Do you know now what to get your host the next time youre invited to a dinner party? Dont stress out too muchIm pretty sure theyd appreciate anything youd come up with, however simple. Happy gift-hunting, and enjoy the upcoming holidays!
