Usually, plumbing problems are just a headache; we have a broken toilet or faucet, we call the plumber, we get it fixed. But there are those plumbing disasters that occur at the worst possible times. That's when it's a good idea to have the number of a 24-hour plumber at hand.

Here are 6 reasonable excuses to keep that number on your speed-dial.

The Storm. When pipes burst in your home during cold weather, it's bad news. If you have a leaky pipe in your basement during a harsh winter storm, the freezing and expanding water that results from that leak can cause serious property damage. It's important to know a quality plumber, who'll brave the bitter December ice and snow to keep your home from sparking a new ice age.

The Party. Imagine you've planned a dinner party. You've invited about 25 guests, hired the caterers and redecorated your entire dining room.
