Five Good Reasons To Keep The Number Of A 24-hour Plumber Handy
Admit it: You know the feeling
Admit it: You know the feeling. You flush the toilet, and the water level doesn't immediately lower like it's supposed to... and you get that familiar rush of frustration, embarrassment and panic. Often our fears turn out to be unfounded, and the problem was just a false alarm. But we've all experienced those times when we need to run for the plunger and the telephone.
Usually, plumbing problems are just a headache; we have a broken toilet or faucet, we call the plumber, we get it fixed. But there are those plumbing disasters that occur at the worst possible times. That's when it's a good idea to have the number of a 24-hour plumber at hand.
Here are 6 reasonable excuses to keep that number on your speed-dial.
The Storm. When pipes burst in your home during cold weather, it's bad news. If you have a leaky pipe in your basement during a harsh winter storm, the freezing and expanding water that results from that leak can cause serious property damage. It's important to know a quality plumber, who'll brave the bitter December ice and snow to keep your home from sparking a new ice age.
The Party. Imagine you've planned a dinner party. You've invited about 25 guests, hired the caterers and redecorated your entire dining room. Then you find out your toilet won't flush, or your bathroom sink has stopped working properly. Good thing you're prepared with the number of a plumber who'll come to your home at a moment's notice. Bon appetit.
The Drip. Plink. Plink. Plink. Everybody knows that sound : A leaky, dripping tap. You have tried turning the knob as firmly as you can, but the drip just keeps on coming, and it's getting tougher to get to sleep. But before you tear your hair out, remember that telephone number you stored in your speed dial. Then you can get a sound night's rest.
The Shock. Whatever you do, don't get in the shower till after you have turned the water on and made sure it is a comfy temperature. Although there's no risk of losing hot water, you do not need to be standing under the shower head when that icy cold blast comes barreling thru. Another good piece of recommendation : Make sure you have got the number of a 24 hour plumber available for those occasions when your morning shower is not as steamy as you'd like.
The Sick Kid. If your kid has a cold or influenza, you do not need to fret about a plumbing failure. A damaged sink, toilet or water heater can make sickness 10 times worse for anybody -- and it is not too fun for the carer either. If you run into issues, call your plumber, take your kid to the doctor's office, and come back home to working plumbing.
The Unmitigated Disaster. These are the one-in-a-million events -- the stuff of television sitcoms. A faucet that snaps off, spraying water everywhere. A toilet that won't stop backing up. An upstairs neighbor whose dishwasher backs up into your kitchen. Don't worry: Your plumber has seen it all, and likely has an answer for everything.
