The implications of using cell phones while driving have increased so much that almost every day one out of four accidents on the road takes place as a result of using cell phones while driving. In fact cell phones have become such a major cause of concern that many countries have even banned or restricted its use while driving.

Such a misfortune can be avoided by simply bearing a few key facts in mind.


Before starting your car, make sure that you have answered any expected calls or replied to the incoming text messages.

While driving, try to avoid the use of cell phones. If you feel that any incoming calls will distract you then switching your phone on a silent mode might be a good idea.

Activate the voice mail on your cell phone. This way you won't miss out on any expected or unexpected calls.

In case you feel that you need to make an urgent call on your way park your car or if that's not possible then stop your car on a corner for a few minutes and then make the call. Only when you feel that you are done with your making calls, then you may start the car again.

If you are one of those few people who get a lot of unexpected calls and cannot avoid answering them at all then get hands free. But make it a point to attach your hands free to your cell phone and the other end carefully preset in your ear before you start the engine.

However, it is still not too late. Everything begins with a positive attitude. All you have to do is make up your mind and carefully follow the above mentioned guidelines. By using just a little bit of common sense major accidents on the road can be avoided, reduced as well as controlled!
