The end of February was the time for the Barcelona Mobile World Conference
. It was a great opportunity for all the world suppliers to show their latest telephones and tablets. The majority of the new electronics became stars given that they feature new and innovative technological innovations, but a number of them caught the interest because of their ridiculous name.
The fifth place is taken by the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 - 7.0. That is a poor name simply because the use of punctuation in a device name is actually poor. Samsung has to control its urge to name their products with a lot of numbers and punctuation. A Samsung phone or a Samsung Tablet must have a much more attractive name that should tell the potential customer something about the machine. A silly name that uses noly numbers and punctuation is terrible for sales.
The fourth place is taken by the new gadget from Panasonic. The elected name for the modern Android phone from this company was ELUGA. It is supposed to be an acronym for elegance and user oriented device, however in my opinion is a lame name. It is hard to pronounce and sounds silly!
The brand new Sony devices share the second and 3rd places. The phones called Sony Xperia P and U win these podium placements. When you try to say the name Sony Xperia P it sounds like you are in need of a toilet. It is very humorous to say that you own a "Xperia Pee". If you want to present the 2 new versions, you will say something similar to "POO" which does not sound properly. It is a real shame simply because the 2 cellphones are incredibly good looking and they might have a great success in the market.
The Huawei Ascend D Quand takes the first position. If you make an effort to say its name fast you may be saying something similar to an insult. I will not write it below, but you can have a go and you will see what it is taking place. There is still hope to rename the design before it goes on the Western marketplace. The D is fro Diamond and Ascend Diamond sounds a lot better than the original brand. It remains to be seen if this cheap quad core device will get a better name for some markets around the world.
The marketers of all organizations should take care in deciding on names for the new units. A bad name can damage a business!
