Five Short Breaks To Whet Your Travelling Appetite

With holiday restrictions placed upon many of us in our working lives one of the

best ways to get time away and see the world is to utilise short breaks. Short breaks have increased in popularity in the last few years, with many people choosing to jet away for an extended weekend. With so many destinations to see the choice of where to go can be difficult, hopefully this article will provide some inspiration to those thinking of getting away for a short city break.

One of my favourite destinations for a short trip has to be Paris. Whilst it is an expensive destination the beauty of the boulevards and a host of sights to keep even the most fervent sightseer busy make it ideal for a short stay. With excellent food, one of the most beautiful cityscapes anywhere in the world and of course more romance than you can shake a stick at it is certainly a worthy option for those planning a brief adventure.

Another great place to get away for a weekend is New York. Whilst the flights may be a bit longer than destinations in Europe the famous skyline and the masses of designer boutiques make this city as unique as it is hectic. Despite the manic nature of the city, the open green spaces and range of bars and restaurants make this an excellent destination for couples and even groups of friends.

Back in Europe lays the totally unique city of Venice. The backdrop to Hollywood movies and with a rich history this city has something for everyone on a short break. With winding waterways, gorgeous plazas and a truly romantic feel, this is certainly one for the lovebirds.

Italy can boast another great city perfect for short breaks. Rome has a fascinating history and like Paris has a plethora of different sights and attractions from the impressive Colosseum to the magnificent Trevi Fountain.

Finally for those want a complete culture change and a true adventure the city of Marrakech should be considered. The city is a wonderful mix of the old and new whilst walking through the Medina and the various souks is an invasion of the senses and a truly amazing experience. A personal tip would be to try foods from the stalls that fill the Jemaa el Fina each and every night.
