Six weeks is a long time in anyone's book, but to a parent of three it's an eternity
. The thought of entertaining three squabbling children for the summer holidays is enough to strike fear into the heart of even the most relaxed parent, so here are some tips for entertaining those little darlings while the weather is fine.
Tents
If you're like us you'll probably have a tent or three kicking about in the garage. Dig one out and put it up in the Garden. The kids will love it.
Water Slides
You can pick up cheap water slides at most supermarkets or catalogue-type store these days, and they provide hours of fun for kids. My personal favourite is the slide with the open shark's mouth at the end. My youngest was terrified at first but then couldn't stop laughing every time she tried it.
Trampolines
Every parent will tell you that the trampoline was the best thing they ever purchased. So what are you waiting for? Shop around online and you'll find very good deals on 10ft+ trampolines with enclosures (often around the 100 mark).
Giant Jenga
It's surprising how much fun you can have with big wooden blocks. Educational as well as fun - this is a gaming classic brought up to date for the garden. Little ones need to be careful as the blocks are pretty heavy and might hurt little toesies. Ouch!
Musical Bean Bags
Line up a few waterproof bean bags, put on some music and turn it off again. The kids love it. Instead of awarding prizes for the winners you could soak the losers. It's much cheaper and a whole lot more fun.
