Here are five occasions when throwing a party would be a great idea.

1) Your birthday

Whether it's your 21st, your 40th or any other age, a birthday is a great reason (or should that be excuse) for celebrating with a party. Do a little research to find a birthday party venue and invite your friends and relatives along. The same applies if you're throwing a birthday party for somebody else.

2) You've just got engaged.

Getting engaged is a big step, but it's also a very special one and something your closest friends and family will want to help you toast. A party can be a great way to formally announce your plans to get married.

3) You've been promoted at work

Well done, you. All that hard work has paid off and you've been rewarded with a new job. Why not gather your friends, buy them the first drink and let them help you celebrate?

4) You're having a university or school reunion

If it's coming up to 10, 15 or 20 years since you were at school or university, then why not throw a party for all your old friends? If so, you'll need to find a venue that can cater for everyone and has the right atmosphere for people to mingle and party.

5) It's Christmas!

If you're planning your company's Christmas party, then you need to find somewhere big enough, on the date you want and that is right for all tastes. Why not make a shortlist and visit the venue to see what you think?
