Fix a slow running computer - How To Stop your computer running slow and freezing

I have seen a lot of so-called fixes for slow running computers prone to freezing up, a lot of them are just temporary remedies while some of them do not even work at all, and there are some that actually do a lot more harm than good. So what should you really do when you find that your monitor is frozen and no amount of keyboard punching or mouse clicking can do the job?

#1 One way is to press ctrl+alt+del to open up the task manager and close the unresponsive program that is bogging down the whole system. This method is fine, if only a single program has frozen. Usually when there is a particular program that freezes seemingly every time that you use it, there might be some compatibility issues between the program and the operating system you're using. You can just uninstall the program and then reinstall a version of it that is compatible with your version of windows. But this is just a program freeze and not really a total system freeze up.

Another misconception about why computers tend to freeze is because it has run out of memory. Most operating systems use swap files, also known as virtual memory. Virtual memory takes over when the RAM gets overwhelmed by too much information passing through them. Using a lot of disk space to use as virtual memory do tend to make your computer run a bit slower than usual but will still not cause your computer to freeze completely and become a slow running computer.

#2 It was also said that your computer freezes up because too many programs are running in the background that were loaded there at the same time your computer powers up. The cure to this problem is to go to the start-up tab in the control panel and disable the programs that you don't really need running from opening as soon as the system starts up. But again, too many programs in the background only constitutes to a partially slow computer, not one that is constantly freezing up.

#3 The real cause of most PC freezes based on my experience is the overwhelming amount of corrupted registry entries. Registry files are like instructions for your computer so that it can operate more efficiently, why these files get corrupted can be due to a large number of causes. When these instructions get messed up then your computer would not be able to make heads or tails as to what to do next until eventually it crashes.

To fix this problem, the best thing you can do is to utilize a system and registry scanner. Just simply scan your computer for errors using this application, it's that simple. Now you can really say goodbye to a slow running computer and stop it freezing.
