There are distinct stages of flirting; From the first look-- to the final level of intimacy

. Research has disclosed that women from different cultures-- and different places in the world-- flirt with the same basic steps:

An Inviting Smile

Quick Look Away

Dropping of the eyes

Head tilted down

These are the initial steps in the time honored art. The stages become more defined in American lounges. The sequence is basically:

Look

Talk

Touch

Kiss

Do the Deed

Sounds logical, doesn't it?

Now-- to get to the details:

The first phase is to Get Attention. Easy! Find a place to sit or stand, then begin to look at those around you-- always looking your best, e.g. posture.

You catch a potential partner's eye-- and you both respond in a way that signifies acceptance of each other-- at least initially. Each stage builds on the next. In fact, each stage is dependent on the other.

Isn't it interesting when you break down the stages-- and begin to understand them?

You begin to talk. Now, it gets into a serious phase. If this guy uses funny pick up lines, you may be wasting your time on a real mutton head; Unless he is clever enough to follow through with witty conversation. If on the other hand-- he begins with some clever conversation starters-- it is worth exploring further.

Sometimes, shyness can be a real turn on-- exhibited by either him or you.

Now, there will likely some touching. As you and your prospective partner get physically closer, the logical next step is to decrease the physical distance. A seemingly innocent brush of the arm is a good gauges the other person's responsiveness to a more intimate advance. So, if the person backs off from this touch-- might as well take your charms elsewhere!

Now, a most interesting phase begins. Some call it 'mirroring '. This is when you begin to act in synch with him. He lifts his glass, you lift yours. He leans back in his seat, you lean back in yours. You cross your legs, he crosses his. This shows you are 'in tune 'with the other person.

You know that understanding the phases a little as illustrated above-- gives an idea of flirting, and flirting tips. But it is kind of reading a 'Driver's Manual' and expecting to learn to drive from it.

The fact is that flirting is a basic way of getting to approach and know prospective partners. It is an integral part of our social lives while we are single. Unfortunately for some, it continues while no longer single - - which often leads to being single again (but, that is another story).

Since we acknowledge it is so important-- isn't it comforting to know that there are detailed courses and additional information available that will lead to actual mastery of this aspect of our lives?
