Flomax is manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and its generic name is Tamsulosin. This medication belongs to a group of medications known as alpha 1A receptor antagonists. It is used in treating symptoms of enlarged prostate (or benign prostatic hyperplasia/ BPH in medical terminology).

When the prostate gland enlarges, it puts pressure on the urethra (the tube that carries urine away from the bladder to be expelled), which results in a weak urine stream or an uncomfortable sensation that the bladder has not been completely emptied. Few Contra Indications

Flomax might cause orthostatic hypotension, which is low blood pressure upon rising from a prone position. If you get an onset of dizziness or weakness, rest until the feeling has passed.
