Florida - The Sunshine State

The USA is a great place to visit for a holiday

, either as a couple or with children. So here is a guide to what to do and where to go throughout your stay.

International Drive

As the main hub of Florida, most hotels are located around International Drive. Along the strip iTrolleys run every 10 minutes to take you up and down the various stops, and offer passes which last for up to two weeks. This is by far the best, and cheapest, way to get around, and the iTrolley even stops at some of theme parks, making your days out even cheaper.

Olive Garden

A fantastic restaurant on I-Drive offering great value for money for good food. Before you start your meal you receive warm bread sticks and a large mixed salad (which makes a refreshing change from the usual fried food that you find in the USA). The portion sizes are large and you will find yourself very full by the end of a lovely meal. They also make a mean daiquiri!

Bahama Breeze

Again, another great restaurant along International Drive. Offering high quality Caribbean food, this place served up the best meals that could be found in the area. It is a place not to be missed, with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and reasonable prices - just beware that it is quite popular and so you may incur a wait of around 30 minutes before a table become available if you do not book in advance.

The Cheesecake Factory

The epitome of incredible food to be found in Florida! You will have to take a taxi to get to The Cheesecake Factory, but this is only a short journey from the top of International Drive and will not set you back very much. If you are going to visit here, do not eat first! A starter and a main is more than plenty to fill you up, and you may need to take the stunning cheesecake home with you instead of eating it there. The menu is huge, and it can take 30 minutes just to choose what you would like! With 35 different cheesecakes on offer, you will be spoilt for choice, and the best part is that eating here will not burn a hole in your pocket - it is incredibly well priced. A must visit.

Universal

Universal Orlando is split into two parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. The studios off a few attractions for youngsters but are more suited to teenagers and adults as little-ones don't really have enough to do here. Still, it is a great day out and you will find many of the film-based attractions very interesting. Islands of adventure on the other hand offer everything that any age could possibly want. A whole range of rides are available based on movie characters. Check out The Hulk roller coaster for a fast paced thrill ride or The Amazing Adventures of Spider Man for a 3D adventure - and don't forget to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter which truly brings the books and films to life in jaw-dropping fashion.

Disneyland

The ultimate childrens' paradise. Consisting of four main parks, this Disney-based adventure is fun for all of the family - though be prepared to do some serious walking! Rides range from the tiny to the full-throttle adrenaline-fueled coasters, and throughout the parks there are many places to stop for a snack. Disneyland is not a cheap place however. Food, drinks and merchandise are expensive, so it is worth considering taking a pack lunch for the days that you spend there. Doing the four parks will take around a day per park, depending on queues and the time of year.

Seaworld

Seaworld is a great theme park for all the family, and is one of the attractions that can be reached via the iTrolley from International Drive. With shows encompassing dolphins and killer whales, and some fearsome rides, this place really does offer something for everyone and is well worth the visit.
