Follow These Tips To Get Over Being Shy
Being shy can be risky in any social gathering
, whether it be for business or please. Most of these people want to know how to get over being shy. Think about it, you walk into a room that is crowded with unfamiliar people, and you feel awkward and clumsy.
Just trying to speak can be difficult, you might try to say one thing but a whole other thing comes out, which you did not think. It might get so bad, you just walk out of the room from the bashfulness. Also, you feel pressured of the situation. If you have shyness you are probably already used to these feelings.
So you're probably wondering where this outlook comes from? In this article we will address these issues and give some tips on how to get over shyness:
Many doctors and psychologists believe that shyness isn't a matter of being an introvert or extrovert because the shyness isn't a personality trait, rather a coping mechanism.
Their belief is this: When we were children we must have gone through some experience where we reacted with shyness.. Now that we're older we never really had a chance to be outgoing, because we're so much more un-troubled being shy that we keep having the same reply.
It comes from that irrational or angry reaction we got from an adult when we were younger. Or from being ignored as an adolescent simply because someone didn't notice that we were talking, or because we hadn't raised our voice enough. Or from being "shot down" when we did have the guts to stick up for ourselves.
There are really 3 main reasons why we experience this bevavior:
- You think of yourself too negatively.
- Being overly aware of your particular actions in a situation.
- Being too consumed with the negative actions or in-actions that you've done in a situation. There are several ways that can help someone to overcome their shyness. The first requires you to look beyond yourself and be interested in those around you.
By focusing your attention on others, you will be more interested in learning about them and making them feel more at ease, instead of worrying that your doing everything right all the time.
Also being familiar with and focusing on your positive qualities is another way to stop being shy in any situation. It can also help to visualize yourself being successful in a particular setting, and then making it happen.
Shyness definitely isn't a life threatening condition, but can really affect your ability to make new relationships and go new places. It probably seems like it will never happen, but once you get overy shyness, you will be the life of the party!
