For Colored Girls Lacks the Usual Tyler Touch

The new movie For Colored Girls by Tyler Perry is a slapdash remake of the Broadway play with a similar title

For Colored Girls has a Great Cast

The movie has a great star cast with actresses like the Loretta Devine, Kerry Washington, Thandie Newton, Phylicia Rashad, Janet Jackson, and Whoopi Goldberg. Unfortunately the latter mentioned actresses whom considered as the most recognizable stars on the film come off as distractions. Janet Jackson punches out of caricature in a bedroom confrontation scene that Perry makes too theatrical. Whoopi Goldberg on the other hand never comes up with a satisfying tone for Alice, a disturbed religious zealot with questionable motives. Goldberg didn't act seriously making Alice humorously eccentric.Tyler Perry on the other hand has not been able to shape the characters well, and the movie seems like scenes were sort of forced together. All these actresses put together might make the movie work well, but otherwise it is not as appealing as expected and does not live up to some of the previous works produced by the cutting age director, Perry.

When celebrities look oversized in one or the other way in some part of their body, it is understood that they have undergone a plastic surgery. A surgical procedure undertaken by any individual should be a private matter, but in Hollywood it becomes the talk of the town.
