This product category is the largest modelling and teen-modelling category. Contrary to the general belief, successful models in commercial advertisements have got the looks of normal people. If one of them walked past you wearing normal clothes with little make-up, you are not likely to take a second look at him. However, what makes them different is their ability to express an emotion and the skills and talent needed to replicate a particular look time and again. For budding talents, they may start practicing their best poses in front of a mirror. Successful models do take out some time off their busy schedule to do some mirror work every day. A model should exhibit the skills and ability to show different expressions and must be well versed in the act of holding that expression for some time. This way, the fashion photographer will be able to take multiple shots of the model at different camera angles and settings. The ability to re-create an emotion or expression at ones will is a much valued quality. These qualities, skills and talents can be developed if sufficient training is there in place. Good commercial models do possess good vital statistics and are photogenic, but there are exceptions to this also. Having a distinctive look improves ones chance of making it big; but as many say, it is not an absolute requirement or necessity. Personality of a person is important along with the attribute of likeability as the audience or target segment should be able to relate to the images or attitudes being shown in the advertisement. Another quality required of a model is that he should be willing to put in long hours at work and at the same time should enjoy the whole process. Thanks to the latest advancements in technology, the pictures one get to see on magazine covers are given subtle touches in order to render it the right look. If one has got reasonably good body and facial features, a talented and creative photographer can project your good looks greatly as well.
