Ford Fiesta Classic Sedan: Practical And Value Based

Ford India has been selling the Fiesta Classic sedan in the Indian market since the year 2005

. At that time, the segment had just a handful of options and hence the Ford Fiesta did find many takers. Infact, its original price was pretty high, in the category of the bigger C segment sedans and the Ford Classic rivaled cars like the Honda City and the Fiat Linea.

The Indian market however keeps maturing and there has been a boom in the number of options in the Rs 6-9 lac bracket. New rivals meant the Ford Fiesta sales took a hit. Further on, Ford wanted to launch the new look and next generation Fiesta in India and hence decided to revamp the older model. The name tag Fiesta was taken out and the car was now known as the Ford Classic only. Its price tag too was trimmed by a good margin, making it way cheaper than the other Rs 7-9 lac sedans, while offering a long list of standard features to woo customers.

Ford Classic hasnt really seen many changes or major updates over the year. True, the exteriors have seen a design tweak, but thats about it. With an overall length, width and height of 4282mm, 1686mm and 1468mm respectively, the Ford Classic does have street presence in front of other rivals. Further, its boot space of 430 litres is also among one of the best in the segment.

To attract customers, Ford has paid attention to the car in terms of features. For example, on the safety front, the Ford Fiesta comes with collapsible steering column, central locking, fuel cut-off inertia switch, programmable key less entry system, anti-lock brakes with EBD, airbags et al. Likewise, on the infotainment and connectivity front, the top of the line Classic, called the Titanium version, comes with Bluetooth connectivity. The audio system is also of the speed sensitive variety.

While the new look Ford Fiesta got modern 1.5-litre engines (petrol and diesel) along with a choice of automatic on the petrol engine, the older Ford Classic continues to be powered by the same engines it first came to the market with. These include the 1.6-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel units, both mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Ford sells the Classic in three trim levels each of petrol and diesel engines. These include the LXi, CLXi and the recently introduced fully loaded Titanium model. The pricing of the Ford Classic, ex-showroom, Delhi, is as under

Ford Classic LXi Petrol : Rs 5.57 lac

Ford Classic CLXi Petrol : Rs 6.22 lac

Ford Classic Titanium Petrol : Rs 6.89 lac

Ford Classic LXi Diesel : Rs 6.84 lac

Ford Classic CLXi Diesel : Rs 7.26 lac

Ford Classic Titanium Diesel : Rs 7.86 lac
