Ford updates Transit Tipper and 14-seat Transit Minibus

Ford has geared its new model to cater for fleet operators who are concerned about productivity

, safety, and cost of ownership saying the Transit Tipper has been updated for those operational needs.Mark Simpson, marketing director, Ford of Britain, said: "The success of the Ford One Stop Shop programme can be attributed to our customers. We listened to their operational concerns and needs and created a programme to cater for thousands of different types of businesses. Transit's dependability and robustness enable us to create commercial vehicles that provide effective business solutions." The changes include an improved payload, lower loading height and intuitive tipper control gear. The body weight for the single and double cab models has been reduced by 51Kg & 40Kg respectively. When it comes to safety, it now has body lock down (for additional safety and stability a sequenced hydraulic cam holds the body in the stowed position) and has been TV approved. Recognising that fleet and rental operators are under increasing pressure from their duty of care responsibilities, the Transit Tipper still remains the only Tipper in the industry to be approved by the TV Rheinland Group; a global leader in independent testing and assessment services. This gives Fleet managers the confidence that their purchase decision has been independently verified for safety and production conformity. Reduced regular maintenance requirements, repositioned end outline marker lamps incorporating LED lamps, simplified systems and reduced parts count all help towards the cost of ownership. Another new addition to the Ford Commercial range is the new 14-seat Transit minibus for sale now with a choice of three 2.4-litre TDCi powertrains ranging from the new 100PS unit with six-speed transmission to the 140PS six-speed. At 3.5 tonnes GVM, this addition to the range means that it can be driven on a category B car licence (on a non hire and reward basis). This increases the number of minibus for sale for non category D licence holders to three; a nine-seat shuttle, a 12-seat minibus and a 14-seat minibus. The 17-seat Transit Minibus has a 150kg increase in payload taking it from 4.1 tonnes to 4.25 tonnes. All models are designed to carry occupants in a safe, spacious and well-equipped interior. Standard safety features on a Ford minibus for sale include ABS, ESP, driver and passenger airbag with the latest generation seatbelts that suit both adults and children on 15- and 17-seat models. From September all rear-wheel-drive Transits from 100PS to 200PS will come with six-speed transmission as standard.
