Forks And Their Folklore
Whether it is a business lunch you threw for a potential investor or a date at some nice dinner table, many people are in peril when it comes to using the right type of cutlery. In your pantry cabinet or bath storage cabinets you may have endless silverware but it is important to know how to and when to use it. For instance, you will find many people who are unable to tell the difference between a salad and a dinner or dessert fork. Well for those who still do not know the difference, let us find out shall we?* First of all, unwrap your silverware and lay it on your table. You will see it for yourself that some restaurants only display two forks on the tables whereas, there are others who place a third fork as well. Now there are people who just cannot identify what the three separate forks are meant for. * For finding out, you need to separate the forks and observe them at large. Compare the lengths of the forks and also the length of tines present in it. In a salad fork, there are shorter tines and the length in total is also small. A dinner fork however, has the tallest tines and is also taller in length as compared to other laid on the table.* Also the forks needed to be arranged in a way that the diners can have easy access to them. As the different courses start to arrive, the diners will use the forks on table. Salad fork is usually kept at a distance while the dinner fork is right next to your plate. The dessert fork is initially not present on the table. It will be placed on the table when the dessert arrives.* There are some other varieties of folks also available. In case of a sea food, there is another type of fork used. Fish forks consist of three to four tines. This particular fork will be longer in length. This makes handling the delicate pieces of fish much easier. As for lobster fork, they are longer in length comprising of two tines which simplifies the pulling of crabmeat from the shell. Another sea food eating fork is the specifically meant for eating oysters. Though it is smaller in size, it contains three tines rather than two. * Another important name in this category is fondue pot. This fork is strange in appearance and looks like some trident. This one is meant to grip olives without destroying them. This olive fork has tines designed outwards. Fondue pots are available in both three pronged and two pronged design. But one thing is for sure that all such forks have tines facing outside. * You can use fondue forks in desserts as well when it has chocolate or cheese in it. If you have seen a barbeque fork, just imagine it in miniature size and that's exactly how a fondue fork looks like.* When the course includes fish along with chips then a wooden chip fork is ideal. It also comes in metallic form. With two tines and a shorter length handle gripping of chips becomes easier.
