Former Radio Boss Gets Itv Media Sales Job

ITV announced that it has appointed Fru Hazlitt as its new managing director of commercial and online.

Ms Hazlitt, the former chief executive of the radio group Gcap, has joined the organisation a week after ITV revealed that commercial chief Rupert Howell would be departing.

ITV created the new role of managing director of commercial and online to unite its airtime sales and online businesses as part of an ongoing strategic review implemented by recently appointed chief executive Adam Crozier.

Mr Crozier said that when he joined ITV he made it his priority to assemble a team that would be capable of delivering a strategy which would transform the company over the next three to five years.

He said: "That means finding the right people with the right skills and experience to create ITV's future."

Mr Crozier went onto say that Ms Hazlitt's previous roles as Yahoo UK managing director and Yahoo Europe European commercial director meant that she had demonstrated the appropriate abilities to be a success at ITV.

"She is renowned for her tremendous energy, her understanding of both media and technology and her ability to deliver real change and results on the ground. She will be an integral part of the engine room that will drive ITV's future," he added.

Mr Crozier claimed that Hazlitt's appointment will help ITV exploit its brands across all platforms and reducing its reliance on a single revenue stream.

Ms Hazlitt said that she was especially looking forward to working with ITV's airtime sales team manager Gary Digby

She said: "I am very excited to be part of the team that is going to transform ITV over the next few years. ITV has some incredibly powerful programme brands and the opportunity to properly exploit those brands across all platforms is hugely compelling."

Ms Hazlitt's new position combines the roles previously occupied by the managing director of brand and commercial Rupert Howell and managing director of online and interactive Ben McOwen-Wilson who are both leaving ITV this summer to take new media jobs.

More new media jobs may be available in the near future as Associated Newspapers revealed it is preparing to launch a standalone annual fashion and beauty magazine.

The glossy magazine will come free with The Mail On Sunday and will be targeted at upper and middle-class women within the London area during London Fashion Week in September.

Dan Levitt, head of magazines at Mail Newspapers and Marcus Rich, the managing director of The Mail On Sunday are in charge of the launch.
