Four Management Colleges Concern For De-recognition

After receiving a dull response from the management aspirants

, four out of 137 management colleges have applied for de-recognition before the department of Technical Education. In this season, many students who have cleared RMAT entrance test had missed the counselling session held for admission in the management colleges affiliated with Rajasthan Technical University (RTU).

The TOI on September 26 reported that with 8,772 candidates were declared eligible for Admission in 10,000 seats in 137 colleges. Out of them only, 2,500 appeared for counselling leaving many colleges to declare 'Zero Session' this year.

Vipin Chandra, principal secretary, technical education department, said, "Four citybased management colleges had asked the department to de-recognised them as they are in no condition to continue in near future." He added that they are expecting more colleges to take a same line after poor response from students.

This situation has given jitters to the upcoming management institutes. Since, 2007 the management colleges saw a growth of 30% every year. On the contrary, department has received not a single application seeking permission to open management colleges for the session 2011-12 till date.

The management colleges in state are divided into two broad categories: The first category is called 'Stand Alone' which runs independently. They are 40 in number. The second category is called 'Management College within Engineering Facility' (MCEF), which accounts for about 90 in the state.

This year none of the MCEF colleges have applied for seat enhancement for their management colleges. Rather few MCEF colleges have decided to surrender their 60 management seats allotted by AICTE with any of the branch of engineering, which is more profiteering.

Aprit Agarwal, director of Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre (JECRC) said, "It is becoming difficult for us to fill our management seats within our engineering facility. If the lull response continues we might surrender our management seats to engineering ." His views were echoed by, Shashikant Singhi, director of Poornima Group of Colleges said, "In terms of economics, MBA colleges have become a liability for education groups."
