Four Trout Fishing Guide Tips - Don't Buy A Fishing Rod Until You Read This Article

Sometimes the smallest things are the most important

. This is very true when we talk about fishing guides. Not only are they small, but they also can play a major part in how you cast your line. How can something so small make such a huge impact on your fishing performance? I will explain below.

Guides serve a few purposes.

1) First they work to guide the line from one end of the rod to the other.

2) Secondly they stop the line from creating large loops as it flies off your reel.

3) Thirdly they cut down on wind resistance

4) Finally they minimize friction.

Let us take a closer look at guides. The amount of force that you put on your rod when casting it up stream over and over again puts a heavy strain on the rod. Your line wants to go one way, yet you are forcing it to go another. At the same time you want it to shoot out of your reel and fall half way across a stream. That is a lot to ask your rod to do all on its own. That is where your guides come in.

Guides were created to make all physics of your motions look and feel simple. When your line is moving out of your reel at high speeds, it tends to create friction and drag. This can really cause fisherman problems when he/she is expecting the line to flow from the rod with effortless grace. To counteract the forces of friction, guides were put in place to keep the line flowing out of your rod with as little resistance possible.

Rod design is really important when purchasing your gear. There are tons of different brands and price points when searching the stores for a rod. I don't recommend just going out to a store and buying a rod unless you have done a bit of investigation on the rod's performance. A poorly designed rod will fail to perform and ruin your cast.

Placements of the guides are a science that has been passed down from generation to generation. The guide holes must be the right size. The placement must be exact and the material used to create the guides has to be of high quality to ensure a low friction release.

Small in their size, yet mighty in their offering is how I like to categorize the fishing guide. Sometimes the smallest things are the most important.
