Fractions And Decimals Algebra
Introduction to fractions and decimals algebra:
Fractions and decimals are the basic arithmetic operations in mathematics. Fraction has two parts of numbers, one is numerator and the other lower number is denominator. Decimals are the numbers which are denoted by a decimal point. Fractions and decimals algebra involves addition, subtraction, multiplication, division problems. Here we are going to see some fractions and decimals algebra problems.
Fractions and Decimals Algebra Problems:
Fraction Algebra problems:
Example 1:
Add the fractions '(4/3) ' and '(9/2)'
Solution:
Step 1:
Take the first number and multiply with '(2/2)'
'(4/3) xx (2/2) = (8/6)'
Step 2:
Now multiply the second fraction with '(3/3)'
'(9/2) xx (3/3) = (27/6)'
Step 3:
Now add the above values.
'(8/6) ' + '(27/6) ' = '(35/6)'
The answer is (35/6).
Example 2:
Subtract the fractions' (5/7)' "" '(6/7)'
Solution:
Here the denominators are same. So subtract the numerators.
(5 - 6) = -1
Hence the answer is - '(1/7)'
Example 3:
Multiply the given numbers '(5/3) ' and '(4/5)'
Solution:
Multiply both the numerators and the denominators.
'(5 xx 4) / (3 xx 5) = (20/15)'
Now to simplify the above fraction, divide both the numbers by 5. We get, '(4/3)'
Thus the answer is '(4/3).'
Example 4:
Divide' (5/2)' by '(3/2)' .
Solution:
Step 1:
Divide the numbers.'(5/2) ' and '(3/2)'
step 2:
Both the numbers have same denominators.
Take the reciprocal of the second number and multiply it with '(5/2)'
'(5/2) xx (2/3) = (10/5)'
= 5
Therefore the answer is 5.
Decimal Algebra Problems:
Example 5:
What is the addition of the 2 decimal numbers 2.34 and 5.62?
Solution:
2.34
5.62
----------
7.96
-----------
Answer is 7.96.
Example 6:
Subtract the decimals 3.2 from 4.5?
Solution:
It can be subtracted as,
(4.5 "" 3.2)
Step 1:
First subtract the numbers after decimal point.
(5 - 2) = 3
Step 2:
Now subtract the numbers before decimal.
(4 "" 3) = 1
Thus the answer is 1.3
Example 7:
Multiply the decimal numbers 1.5 and 2.3
Solution:
Step 1:
To remove decimal point we can multiply both the numbers by 10, that is
' (1.5 xx 10) ' = 15
' (2.3 xx 10) ' = 23
Step 2:
Now multiply' (15 xx 23)' .
i) First take the last number 3 and multiply into 15 which are equal to 45.
ii) Now multiply 2 into 15, we get 30.
iii) First put the number 45 and then put 30 prior to one digit.
iv)now adding we get the answer as below.
15 *
23
-------
4 5
3 0
---------
3 4 5
----------
Step 3:
Now we have to put the decimal point. As the given numbers have 2 decimal points, put the decimal point before two numbers from last.
Thus the answer is 3.45.

Example 8:
What is the division of 3.6 by 0.6?
Solution:
Step 1:
First multiply both the numbers by 10.
' (3.6 xx 10) = 36'
' (0.6 xx 10) = 6'
Step 2:
Now divide the numbers, we get as '(36/6) ' = 6.
Thus the answer is 6.
Thus these are the various example problems for fractions and decimals algebra.
